Chief Supt Ian Jones is the Divisional Commander for South Division, which covers the Preston, Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancashire areas.
"I started my career at the age of 18 when I joined Merseyside Police as a Special Constable. Two years after that, I joined Thames Valley Police as a Police Constable.
After a move back to Merseyside and roles as a Dog Handler, Custody Sergeant and Neighbourhood Inspector over the following 17 years, where I implemented several teams tackling Organised Crime Groups, cuckooing and County Lines, I transferred to Lancashire Constabulary in September 2018 as Chief Inspector for West Lancashire and later as a Force Incident Commander.
Following a successful promotion process, I then joined Greater Manchester Police in 2022, taking on the role of Superintendent for Manchester City Centre and later as a temporary Chief Superintendent and District Commander in Wigan and Bolton.
Being a resident of South Lancashire, I am immensely proud to be back at Lancashire Constabulary, taking on this new role.
I am passionate about delivering the best service that we can for those who need us and myself, and each of the officers in my team, are more than prepared to step up and face challenges that are presented to us.
Together, we are committed to reducing crime and keeping South Lancashire a safe place for those to live, work and visit."
