Friday, October 11, 2024

We have this week appointed a new Deputy Chief Constable.

After a rigorous process earlier this week, we are delighted to announce that Sam Mackenzie has been appointed as our new Deputy Chief Constable of Lancashire Constabulary.

Sam joined Lancashire police in April 2000 starting as a response officer in Blackpool. He has dedicated his entire policing career to serving the communities of Lancashire working in investigative, operational and community roles. Sam also undertook a year long secondment to HMICFRS gaining experiences of policing across the country.

As the Assistant Chief Constable of Lancashire, Sam has held the roles of both Head of Local Policing and Head of Crime and Specialist Capabilities.

As the Deputy, he is now responsible for the day-to-day running of the force and also oversees our Professional Standards Department, Legal Services and Corporate Development.

The new Deputy Chief Constable said: “I am thrilled to have been appointed as the Deputy Chief Constable of Lancashire Constabulary.

“I know that this is a challenging and exciting role and one I am looking forward to.

“I have been proud to serve Lancashire throughout my policing career and to now become the DCC is a true honour.

“As a resident of Lancashire myself, with a young family, I’m committed to ensuring we deliver the best service possible for our communities. I will work hard with the support of our police family to achieve this.”

Chief Constable Sacha Hatchett said: “I am delighted that Sam has been successful in his appointment as DCC. Sam has a passion for policing and for his home force, Lancashire.

“Having worked both uniform and detective roles throughout his career he is well respected and has a deep understanding of the proud and caring Lancashire culture that our officers and staff are known for.

“He is a great support to me as Chief, is committed to providing the best service we possibly can for the people of Lancashire and is absolutely the best person for the job. Well done Sam.”
