Links policy

On the Lancashire Police website(s) we try to include links to relevant organisations that you may find useful. With numerous websites around the world though we do need guidelines to help ensure we are fair and consistent.

We have two types of links:

Internal links

Internal links are links to another part of the Lancashire Police website. These might be referred to as related pages.

External links

External links are links to sites that we do not own, or have any control over, but that we think you might find useful.

As a general rule we try to link to Government websites, partners or not-for-profit/non-commercial websites.

We tend not to link to commercial websites. The reason for not linking to commercial websites is simply that we are trying to be fair to everyone. If we add a link for one commercial website in a specific sector then we need to include all relevant links and that is not the core purpose of the Lancashire Police website. We do accept though that, despite trying to enforce this rule, there may be occasions where we do include commercial website links but this is not normal or regular.

We do not normally link to sites which are not free to access.

We do not link to external sites in return for cash, services or any other consideration in kind.

We are not responsible for the content, reliability or availability of external web sites and do not necessarily endorse the views expressed within them. Listing should not be taken as an endorsement of any kind.

Links may be made to our website from personal and organisational websites. We request that you link to our site rather than downloading portions of it to another web server, so that viewers will see the most up-to-date information.

If you notice a link that you feel should not be on the our website please email engagement@lancashire.police.uk. Likewise, if you would like to request a link from our website please contact us but we will apply the above criteria.
